The Servant of Two Masters

Wednesday, November 30th, 2005

I’ve just returned from the The Sydney Theatre. I attended the preview night of The Bell Shakespeare Company’s production of Carlo Goldoni’s wondrous romantic comedy The Servant of Two Masters.
From the Bell Shakespeare website:
Truffaldino is an out of work servant and in one fantastic day he ends up with two jobs. And why not [...]

Positively Glowing

A powerful flash indeed. Some photos from the Sunday night shipmeet.
And yes: I always do have my mouth open.

Melbourne

Wednesday, November 30th, 2005

While I’m waiting for the photos from the retreat to be placed on our church website (I didn’t take any photos there…I had no batteries for the camera! :bangs head:), I’ll talk about the beautiful city of Melbourne.
Yes: a Sydney-sider said Melbourne was beautiful. I’m not sure if interstate rivalry is a universal thing, [...]

Phew!

Tuesday, November 29th, 2005

Surfacing for air on a very — make that extraordinarily — busy first day back at work after the long, long weekend I had. It seems to be a weekend for retreats: Jack the Lass was at one also — and her getting there is a story in itself: well worth a read.

I’m off to Melbourne tomorrow morning [6:45am!] for the Melbourne Antiochian Orthodox Retreat, which is being held from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. I’m looking forward to the teaching and the fellowship with our brothers and sisters from the parishes down there.

Prayer Request: Church of the East

Thursday, November 24th, 2005

You may remember this post of mine regarding the disciplinary action taken by the Synod against Mar Bawai Soro. The latest edition of Zinda Magazine contains a great amount of information on that issue.
Please remember them in your prayers.

Prayer for Friend and Family

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005

Can you please pray for my friend Ngim, his three sisters, his mum and his wife L?
His dad was stabbed to death after coming to the aid of a female worker at their newsagency. Mr Yeak was very well known in Cabramatta and in the Cambodian community.
Ngim and L are members of [...]

Storms!

Photo from SMH (may require free registration)
Fantastic storms last night. Lightning lit up the sky every two seconds and the rain pelted down. We desperately need the rain. Please pray we receive more.
O GOD, heavenly Father, who by thy Son Jesus Christ hast promised to all those who seek thy kingdom, and [...]

Art Works of He Qi

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005

In terms of any art, I’m an ignoramus. In fact, a super-ignoramus. I know nothing.
I do like to go to Art Galleries, occasionally; I’ll make a special effort if a ‘famous’ artist has an exhibition, like I did with the Caravaggio exhibition. I wander around galleries, especially when I’m in [...]

Apostle Philemon of the Seventy

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2005

Today is celebrared, among others, Apostle Philemon of the Seventy; St. Apphia the wife of Philemon and Equal of the Apostles; Apostle Archippus the Martyr of the Seventy; and St. Onesimus the Disciple of St Paul.
I find it a great blessing to read the lives of those we only get a glimpse of in the [...]
